Week 26 of your Pregnancy
You are approaching the end of your second trimester!
Your baby is approximately 13 inches or 33 cm long and weighs about 1½ to 2 pounds (680 to 907 grams).
Growing in leaps and bounds, your baby is now able to maintain his/her balance and may even be able to tell the right side up in your uterus.
Even though baby stretches his/her arms and legs, he/she spends most of the time curled up with the legs tucked up next to the bottom.
The eyes are fully developed and will open soon.
Your baby now has an established routine of movement and sleep.
What to Expect
With less amniotic fluid to buffer the movements, you will be more aware of those kicks and punches.
As your baby grows and pushes upward on your rib cage, you may be feeling some rib pain and heartburn.
Tips for Week 26
If your back is feeling the strain of your growing belly, try some pregnancy stretches.
Tips for managing heartburn: eat small frequent meals, eat slowly, avoid foods that aggravate the heartburn and have your last meal at least 2 hours before going to bed.
Discuss your birth plan with your partner and decide on who you want in the room with you when you deliver your baby.
