Week 31 of your Pregnancy
Gaining fat and growing, your little one now weighs around 3.3 pounds or 1½ kg and measures just over 16 inches or 41 cm from crown to toe.
Incredibly, your baby may still gain another 1 pound 15 ounces or 900 grams before birth.
The connections or synapses in your baby’s brain are forming by the millions and your baby is spending long periods of time in REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep.
As millions of brain connections develop, your baby is already using all five senses.
What to Expect
You may be noticed some varicose veins in your legs.
Wearing support panty-hose, cooling baths/showers, avoiding long standing, elevating your legs and feet whenever possible and watching your weight gain can all help.
Although there may be some relief after giving birth, they do not always disappear.
Many women develop stretch marks in the third trimester. Unfortunately there is no way of preventing them.
Tips for Week 31
Swollen feet can be a problem, so elevate your feet whenever you can and wear flat comfortable shoes.
