Week 17 of your Pregnancy
Your baby now weighs around 5 ounces or 142 grams and is about 5½ inches or 14 cm long (about the size of your hand spread open wide).
Your baby’s limbs and vital organs are now fully formed so he/she will now just continue growing in size.
Baby’s ears are now fully formed and in position and your baby’s sense of hearing is also developing.
Fat stores are starting to accumulate. This will help keep your baby warm after birth.
All the swallowed amniotic fluid waste is accumulating in baby’s bowel as meconium, which will be your newborn’s first stool.
At this stage babies are very active – kicking, punching and turning around in the uterus –he/she’s having a ball in there!
What to Expect
At 17 weeks pregnant you’re showing more and your center of gravity is changing.
Trying to maintain a good posture and bending your legs when picking up things will help you avoid backache and unnecessary muscular strain.
Nearly half of all pregnant women get hemorrhoids or piles. Try to avoid constipation by eating a high-fiber diet, drinking plenty of water, and exercising regularly.

Tips for Week 17
If your bras are feeling a little tight, it is most likely due to your breasts having increased in size. Now would be a good time to buy some supportive bras.
Some retail therapy may be needed to include some loose fitting clothes.
